Programs

Overview

In an effort to support and build greater strength and capacity within local community and not for profit groups, the Shire has developed the Community Group Development Program (CGDP).

The CGDP comprises training, links to resources and opportunities, mentoring and advice across a number of areas including funding, governance / succession planning, relationship building, supporting volunteerism, establishing groups / clubs, running effective and efficient meetings, event / risk management, and other topics as identified through further community feedback.

Key Outcomes

  • Community Group Workshops: In partnership with the WA Council of Social Services the Shire hosted two workshops in September 2008, providing community groups and Not for Profit agencies with information and resources relating to funding, fund raising, project development, submission writing and key aspects of increasing effectiveness and efficiency in boards and management committees.
  • Maintenance of the Community Group Registry
  • Collation of relevant funding sources (link to those listed below)
  • Communication of relevant funding, training and development opportunities to groups – contact us if you would like to receive regular updates.

Future Plans

To continue to make provision of relevant information and opportunities as they arise.
