Libraries


The council operates public libraries at Margaret River and Augusta with something for everyone, and there is no membership fee.

Simply go to the library with identification that gives your home address. If you are staying at temporary accommodation in the shire, a deposit is also required.

We are a part of the State Library of Western Australia network of public libraries, with access to over 2.3 million items in the state collection through inter library loan.

  • Curtin collection – a unique partnership has been
    created with Curtin University of Technology to
    manage & provide printed reference resources.

Computing services include public access catalogues, internet access and word processing. A small fee is charged to access email.

For travellers there is a paperback exchange available.

Storytelling for preschoolers is a regular event on Tuesday mornings at 10am.

Services to Seniors includes a book delivery to Home and Community Care centres, large print and audio editions of the latest publications and comfortable reading chairs.

Both libraries have community noticeboards. Photocopying and fax sending are available.
