CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO COUNCIL REFERENCE GROUPS
The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is now calling for nominations for members of the community to volunteer to become members of the following reference groups:
Sustainability Reference Group: Up to 11 community members with interest and expertise in environmental matters. Those community members applying to become members of the Sustainability Reference Group should provide supporting information as to how you can assist sustainability in the Shire; and
Sports and Recreation Reference Group: Up to 24 representatives of sport and recreation clubs operating within and comprising members based in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. Sporting Groups should nominate a representative to be on the Sports and Recreation Reference Group to advise Council on matters relating to Sport and Recreation in the Shire. Representatives of sport and recreation clubs are required to have a letter of authorisation from their club, appointing the person as a representative to the committee.
Copies of the reviewed Instrument of Appointment and Delegation (Terms of Reference) for each committee can be found on the Shire’s website.

In accordance with section 3.50 of the Local Government Act 1995, Part 3 (functions of Local Governments – Closing certain thoroughfares to vehicles), Works being carried out by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River are kerbing, drainage, footpath upgrades and asphalt overlays The works will involve digging of front yards and attending to flooding issues. Upon completion of works, all crossovers will be reinstated. The Shire, as part of the 2019-2020 budget, works program, will be funding these works.
These works are programmed to commence Tuesday 17 September 2019 and it is anticipated that works will take approximately 2 weeks to complete (weather permitting).
During works, individual property access may be affected. The Shire Works Coordinator will contact residents, and will endeavour to ensure residents do have access at all times and where necessary to discuss issues and make alternative arrangements prior to individual access being affected.
During reconstruction works, traffic management will be in place and some delays are likely. The Shire will endeavour to avoid lengthy delays, however where an alternative route is possible, please consider this. The Shire appreciates your patience during these works.

You are invited to view and comment on the Draft Cowaramup Bay Coastal Management Plan which has been released for community consultation. The Plan has been prepared to ensure that recreational useage and visitation is managed such that the important and unique environmental, cultural and recreational values of the area are maintained.
The plan has been broken into five management areas:
Zone 1 – South Point/Huzzas;
Zone 2 – Melaleuca Beach;
Zone 3 – Swimmers Beach;
Zone 4 – Cowaramup Brook to the National Park boundary; and
Zone 5 – Northpoint boat ramp and carpark area.
The draft Plan includes recommendations relating to erosion, access management, revegetation, weed control, community involvement, signage and a range of other matters.
Significant community consultation has already been undertaken through preparation of the plan and prior the release for public comment. Results from the consultation period will be presented to Council prior to the formal adoption of the Plan.
