We are committed to ensuring that universal access is available to the community through all its functions. The Shire has developed the Access and Inclusion Plan 2018-22 and Access and Inclusion Policy. To access these documents in alternative formats please contact the Community Development Officer on 9780 5233 or email amrshire@amrshire.wa.gov.au. Also read: Access Standards for our website.
The Access and Inclusion Plan 2018-22 seeks not only to meet legislative requirements, but also to strategically address access and inclusion issues to the benefit of all community members making the Shire a people friendly place to live, work and visit. An annual implementation plan directs priorities and programs which are incorporated into the annual budgeting process. The Shire has a statutory obligation to provide appropriate universal access to its facilities and services, and to ensure that proposals it receives and approves are compliant.
The vision for an accessible and inclusive community concentrates on eight key areas:
The Shire is committed to a culture of innovation, quality and continuous improvement and as such appreciates public feedback. If you would like to provide feedback on access and inclusion issues, please do so by contacting the Community Development Officer on (08) 9780 5255 or email amrshire@amrshire.wa.gov.au.
The Disability Services Act (1993) requires Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs) to be implemented by agents and contractors as well as the staff of a local government. Where agents and contractors provide services to the public on behalf of the contracting local government, these services are to be conducted consistent with the DAIP of the contracting local government.
